Capacity Before Expansion
February 2026
We have made growth a virtue and capacity an afterthought. We celebrate the organization that doubled, and ignore the one that quietly collapsed under the weight of its own expansion.
But growth without capacity is not growth — it is strain. It is the slow erosion of the very thing you set out to build. Capacity is the structure that holds the vision when it arrives; without it, the vision becomes a burden.
Before you reach for more, ask: do I have the structure to steward what is already in my hands? Capacity before expansion is not a slowdown — it is a stewardship posture. It is the discipline of building the vessel before you pour the wine.
